The Centre was established in the year 1979. It is having a hostel for 50 persons, a store, a kitchen and office building. The Centre is under control of the Additional District Magistrate under single line administration system and conducts trekking, rock Climbing and other adventure activities and extends rescue facility as well to the pilgrims during the famous Manimahesh Yatra. The Centre is run/ headed by a Mountaineering Instructor.
